This is an archive of the chess pages that I created on here between 2014 and 2019. It was intended to be a comprehensive overview of chess gambits, especially the 19th century style gambits. I had a spree of updates early on but my original plan for the site turned out to be too ambitious once I had a regular full-time job, so I struggled to maintain frequent updates. In the end, I've chosen to discontinue this part of the site but retain what I published as an archive.
My approach is reminiscent in many ways of the 19th century "Romantic" style, I enjoy playing gambits (sacrificing one or two pawns, occasionally a piece) in the opening, seeking to unbalance the position, to get into middlegame positions that offer plenty of creative and artistic scope. Thus, these pages are devoted especially to gambit openings, particularly the centre pawn gambits which concentrate on development and launching quick attacks.
